Christian Education Program
Christian Education is an important facet in the life of the congregation at First Presbyterian Church. We offer Sunday School opportunities for children and adults.
Sunday Morning begins with music at First Presbyterian Church in Uvalde. At about 9:45 am our church guitar group leads an informal sing-a-long time of gospel favorites followed by Sunday School at 10:00 am. Come join us!

For Children:
Laura Dabney teaches the children’s class, which uses the PCUSA’s Wee Believe: God’s Word for God’s People curriculum. This class builds foundations to help young children learn about God’s love for them through stories, songs, and crafts.
For Youth:
Terri Rambie teaches the Youth class for Jr. and Sr. High’s. This class utilizes the FAQ: Faithfully Asking Questions material published by the PCUSA. As young people mature in faith and life, their developmental tasks include a search for identity and understanding of themselves and their world. This class for youth takes this notion seriously as they match real questions from Presbyterian Youth around the country with the PCUSA’s Study Catechism: Confirmation Version.
For Adults:
Two classes are offered at FPCU for adults.
Class 1 (Name to be determined) meets in the Parlor and is led by Pastor Nancy. The class is currently using The Thoughtful Christian curriculum. Bible study should be timely. It should stimulate our thoughts about Christian values and how they relate to today's world. These lessons encourage class members to share their thoughts and beliefs while wrestling with questions that inform the way we live out our faith in everyday life. Topics range from studying biblical characters to spirituality.
Class 2 (Name to be determined) is for Younger Adults (and those young at heart). This class uses the online curriculum The Wired Word. The class discusses a current event straight from the week’s headlines and analyzes it in biblical context each week.
